New transmissions, easier-to-use controls, and many exclusive features enable the4000 TEN tractors to set new standards for functionality, versatility, and usability.NEW POWERGross engine horsepower has been increased on two of the models.• The 4210, replacing the model 4200, increases two full horsepower to 28 gross enginehorsepower.• The 4610, replacing the model 4600, receives a one horsepower increase to 44 grossengine horsepower.NEW TRANSMISSIONSTwo new, innovative transmissions have been added to the 4000 TEN Series lineup.The new eHydro is an electronically controlled hydrostatic transmission available on bothmid- and large-chassis tractors (excluding the 4510).The new ePowrReverser is an electronically controlled reverser transmission (replacingthe current SyncReverser transmission) and is available on the 4310 and 4410 models. TheePowrReverser is exclusive in the market by being the only power reverser available on amid-chassis tractor.Also, the current SyncShift transmission is now available on large-chassis two-wheel-drivetractors, replacing the current CST (collar shift transmission).NEW CONTROLSNew 4000 TEN Series tractors equipped with eHydro electronically controlled hydrostaticdrive transmissions also feature a new operator control system called eTouch controls. Thissystem provides for easy electronic engagement of PTO, MFWD, and hydrostatic drive pedalfunctions.The eMatch Operating System, an enhanced electronic operating system, allows thetractor operator to "custom tailor" the tractor transmission responses to the job at hand. Thesenew features include:• SpeedMatch - the ability to set a preset maximum speed• MotionMatch - the ability to select rate of deceleration• LoadMatch - the ability to prevents engine stallsAutomotive-style cruise control, allowing on-the-go acceleration or deceleration, is availableas an option to this system.All of the above features are exclusive to John Deere compact utility tractors.NEW HYDRAULIC OPTIONSThird selective control valves will now be available as factory installed equipment in the samemanner as dual selective control valves. Control for this popular option has been convenientlyrelocated next to the operator seat.All rear hydraulic couplers have been increased to half-inch size and relocated on the rearaccessory bar. A new electronic diverter valve, controlled with a button on the joystick, is alsoavailable to provide 3rd and 4th or 4th and 5th SCV functions.NEW iMatch QUICK-ATTACH SYSTEMOne of the greatest customer dissatisfiers involvesdifficulty in attaching tractor implements. JohnDeere has addressed this issue with the newiMatch Quick-Attach System.The iMatch system provides easy hookup and aguaranteed fit for all Category I implements thatare designed to meet the ASAE* Category Istandard S287.6 for quick-attach hitches.The iMatch quick-attach coupler will be availableas a 9000 code added to your tractor order.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONSales manual and pricing information for the new 4000 TEN Series tractors will be released inNovember 2001.

Hmm.. all those new gimicky features on the XX10 series just seem like warranty claims waiting to happen. You would think with all of the problems they have had with these tractors, they would try to simplify them, not make them more complicated. Now the dealers are probably going to have to buy a bunch of sophisticated equipment just to troubleshoot them. ....

Great additions. Many of these have been available on the bigger ag tractors, and glad to see some of these features packed into the compacts. Kind of just what the Dr. ordered. If JD wanted to make it simple, they would go back to the old two bangers; without any battery, generator, hydraulics, etc. These new compacts will be great little machines. Maybe my 'ol 4300 that hasn't had ANY problems, will get traded in for a new one. Thanks for the post, DrDeere. ....
